IMR Industriale Sud, active in the production of automotive components, has installed the EcoSupply P system of Verind, a Dürr group company, whose coating management unit can handle up to seventy different tints in an efficient and sustainable way, thanks to incredibly low paint loss and cleaning product consumption degrees and to very quick colour change times.

The automotive industry is characterised by very high chromatic variability. Colour is one of the main variables of a car purchase decision, not only in terms of tint, but also of effects - metallic, mica, matte, pearl, pastel. According to a recent study1, in 2018 two thirds of all the vehicles produced were coated with special effect paints. More and more daring solutions are being sought, aimed at making a car's appearance unique for differentiation purposes. At the same time, however, the entire European and world production chains are increasingly aware of sustainability issues such as waste and emission reduction, material recovery and reuse, and production optimisation aimed at saving energy and creating a circular economy.

The car sector companies are constantly looking for ways to combine customisation and efficiency with green policies. This is why they are investing in innovative technologies to cope with the boom in the demand for special colours and effects witnessed in the last few years. IMR Industriale Sud, among the Italian leaders in the production of automotive components, is an excellent example of this trend. Its investment in a new industrial management technology for high quality paint products, supplied by Verind (Milan, Italy), a Dürr group company, has enabled it to meet the increasingly complex stylistic requirements of its customers while achieving a high environmental sustainability degree.
